The Norwell Public Library offers its patrons a number of research tools to assist them in their research needs. Funding for these tools is provided by the Norwell Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC).

Boston Consumer's Checkbook   A nonprofit website dedicated to helping Boston area consumers find high-quality, reasonably priced services.  This database is only accessible on the library computers via an icon on the desktop.

eLibrary  A full-text database of consumer-oriented magazines, books, newspapers, newswires, television and radio transcripts, maps, and photographs. For access, click here.

General OneFile  Millions of full-text news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics such as business, computers, current events, education, environment, health, hobbies, law, literature, politics, science, sports, technology, etc.  For access, click here.

General Reference Center Gold  A general interest database of articles on current events, popular culture, business and industry trends, the arts and sciences, sports, hobbies, and more.  For access, click here.

PowerSearch  Ability to search one or several of the Gale's periodical databases in a single search.  This is especially good for subjects that may be covered in more than one database, such as diets, careers, etc.  For access, click here.

LearningExpressLibrary    Free and unlimited access to online courses such as job search and workplace skills, jobs and careers, skill building for adults, etc.  Also, practice tests for ASVAB, firefighter, police officer, paramedic, EMT basic, US Citizenship, Postal Worker, Cosmetology, Real Estate Agent, and Broker Exams.  For access, click here

Morningstar Library Edition  Provides investment research, including stock and fund analysis, reports and tools, as well as company, investing and financial news.  Available in the library only.  Please ask library staff for assistance.

Genealogy

Ancestry Library One of the most important genealogical collections available today. It has unparalleled coverage of the United States and the United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records, as well as record collections from Canada and other areas.   This database is only accessible on the library computers via an icon on the desktop.
